The establishment of the Quality Assurance Institute (LPM) at universities is based on various national and international policies that emphasize the importance of the quality of higher education. Along with the development of globalization, accountability and transparency in education have become top priorities. LPM plays an important role in ensuring the quality of education through a series of procedures and standards, including in curriculum development, lecturer evaluation, research, and community service. The main goal is for universities to be able to produce competent graduates, relevant to industry needs, and ready to compete in the international arena. LPM is responsible for preparing, monitoring, and evaluating the implementation of quality standards to create high-quality graduates, in accordance with the university's vision and mission.
In 2011, the Royal College of Informatics and Computer Management (STMIK) was established based on Decree No. 197/E/O/2011 concerning the Establishment Permit of STMIK Royal with 2 (two) undergraduate study programs, namely: Information Systems and Computer Systems Study Programs. And in 2012, on October 8, the STMIK Royal Quality Assurance Institute was established based on the Decree of the Head of STMIK number SK 027/SK/STMIK-R/X/2012.
In 2024, on May 28, 2024, STMIK Royal officially changed its form to Royal University, so the Royal University Quality Assurance Institute was ratified as a quality assurance institution based on Rector's Decree No. 008/SK-TK/UR/VII/2024 dated July 22, 2024.
In general, the Quality Assurance Institute (LPM) at universities has the main task of ensuring the quality of education through:
